Network Server Administrator

Global Flow Technologies is seeking a Network Server Administrator

 

 

OVER ALL JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Network Maintenance & Administration:

  • Monitor and maintain connectivity between locations and users across Metro Fiber, MPLS, and VPN connections
  • Monitor and maintain servers (physical and virtual) at all locations to make sure that they are operating properly and that network resources are available to users
  • Troubleshoot networking and network connectivity issues, consulting with internal and external technical resources when needed
  • Perform daily system backups of the network. Verify backups complete and resolve any problems that occur with backups
  • Manage Patches for all Servers and ensure installation

 

USER AND DESKTOP/LAPTOP SUPPORT:

  • Provide assistance to users as support needs require
  • Document and maintain all support activity in ‘Track-It’. Close tickets within two hours of completion
  • Record common user questions/problems in the Track-It solution database
  • Answer user questions and provide spot training as required
  • Suggest and assist in the development of user tips sheets & training classes

 

DOCUMENTATION:

  • Prepare and maintain procedural documentation for all routine duties of the position.
  • Document computer configurations.
  • Maintain warranty information on all hardware.

 

PURCHASING & INVENTORY MAINTENANCE:

  • Purchase equipment based on standards set by the Systems Administrator, obtaining capital expenditure requests when required. 
  • Maintain hardware inventory database, updating whenever hardware is purchased, moved or disposed.
  • Maintain licensing information, including invoice copies for licenses purchased.

 

MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as technical resource for advanced networking issues in the absence of the Systems Administrator.
  • Support the deployment of Blackberry devices to users.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Systems Administrator.
  • Provide support for other Network User and System Support Specialists

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Work Experience:     

  • College preferred with four to six years experience with user support in a networked environment.
  • Technical or university certifications/training a plus. 
  • Willingness to learn new technologies

 

Knowledge/Required Experience:
Minimum of 4 years experience w/Managed Multi-site Active Directory,  w/managing network backup, w/managing exchange environment server, w/supporting Windows XP, & Office 2007 Professionnal. 

Solid background in the following:              

  • Windows Server 2008 /Windows XP Professional /MS Office 2007 Professional  /Networking  /TCP/IP  /DHCP  /Routing (VLAN|WAN - MPLS)   /VPN (IPSEC | SSLVPN) - Preference Cisco | Citrix   /Network Switches – Preferences 3Com / Cisco Switches   /Wireless Local Area Networks  /Cisco Firewall  /Cisco ASA   /Microsoft Hyper-V

 

Additional Knowledge that is highly desired

    • Storage Area Network - Dell Equallogic /Microsoft Server Products   /MS Exchange Server 2007  /MS SQL Server 2005  /MS SharePoint  /Windows Terminal Server  /Windows Systems Update Services  /System Center:  Configuration Manager  /Symantec Enterprise Vault  /Blackberry Enterprise Server and devices Trend Micro Products:  OfficeScan, IMSS  /WebSense Web Filtering & DFS

 

Personal Attributes:             

    • Detail orientation, Proactive, Good problem solving capability, Ability to weigh cost/benefit of requests and seek supervisory advice when in doubt, Ability to obtain information from manuals and external information sources, Flexible to changing priorities, Ability to coordinate with third parties for remote support and Willingness to travel.  Good verbal and written communication skills .  Must possess excellent problem solving skills.  Ability to prepare clear written documentation.   Ability to provide instruction as needed to non-technical users.

 Physical:         Ability to lift 35-40 pounds (CPU’s, printers and monitors).
