Director of Nursing

Busy Ambulatory Surgery Center in North Phoenix is seeking a qualified Director of Nursing on a full-time basis. 

Job Summary:

The position holder is accountable and responsible for planning, directing and evaluating

activities of the nursing department, including implementation of the department's philosophy

and goals, standards for nursing practice and the management and development of nursing

personnel. He/She provides leadership and direction in all nursing matter.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering medical care to the highest standards
• Is responsible for the direct patient care given in the center, pre-operative assessment, surgery and recovery
• Develop, review, approve and enforce written departmental policies and procedures.
• Determine and communicate resources needed for the nursing department to carry out its

                  functions and submit written reports as required.

• Establish and maintain an effective system of records and reports.
• Supervise and develop nurses and supervisors.
• Attend and participate in regular meetings with the ASC’s Governing and Medical Executive Committee.
• Plan, coordinate and participate in nursing in-service training.
• Ensure the clinical competency of each nurse prior to assignment of independent patient

care activities.

• Oversee infection control activities for nursing, ensure adequate and appropriate

infection control measures are selected.

• Knowledge of current nursing practices with strong interpersonal and

leadership skills is required.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Arizona RN license.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Applicants must have ACLS and PALS certification, required upon hire.

Experience:

• 3 to 5 years experience in clinical nursing.
• 2 to 3 years experience in administrative nursing.
