Job Description 

Payroll Specialist

Payroll responsibilities include timely and accurate processing of employee payroll data for approximately 400 employees through ADP.  The Payroll Specialist will assist with special projects as needed (eg, training for employees).  The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for some Accounts Payable duties.   Payroll duties will comprise approximately 80% of the payroll specialist’s time with the remaining 20% comprised of AP duties and special projects.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for timely and accurate processing of employee payroll, including collection, review, input, edit, output and verification of payroll data

  •  Process outside department timekeeping data by the required deadline

  •  Explain payroll information to employees

  •  Identify and reconcile any discrepancies with appropriate parties before making payment to employees

  •  Assist in specialized processing, requiring detailed knowledge of payroll procedures and laws

  • Administer ADP eTime time reporting tool and train new hires on use of tool

  • Troubleshoot and resolve ADP Payroll and eTime software issues

  • Work with Sales to ensure that sales commissions are calculated and paid accurately

  • Answer employee questions regarding sales commissions payments

  • Administer Concur expense reporting software and train new hires on the use of this software

  • Accounts payable responsibilities include assisting the Accounts Payable Specialist with setting up vendors, entering voucher information, matching invoices, filing, coding invoices, tracking purchase orders and capital expenditure requests

  • Spreadsheet work

  • Special projects as needed for the Accounting department

 


Job Requirements 

  • Computer skills, including spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of ADP preferred
  • Efficient and accurate data entry skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Minimum 5 years payroll processing experience preferred, with exposure to multi-state payroll and payroll databases
  • High School diploma required, and Bachelor's prefered
