Requirements
Development of data system interfaces between newly-installed solutions and other enterprise applications in use at client sites.
Data migration from legacy systems to newly installed ERP and LMS solutions. This may include analysis, development, use of SQL and ETL tools, etc.
Troubleshoot and resolve client and product issues; Document issues and resolutions in enterprise knowledge base
Collaborate extensively with all peers, product development, open source communities, and project/account managers
Develop technical specifications for client customizations, product enhancements, etc.
Work with product development and open source communities to design solutions that are robust and sustainable
Develop technical training materials and documentation.
Conduct system administration and technically oriented training at client sites or remotely using web conferencing tools as required.
Analyze technical trends and provide appropriate feedback to product development and other appropriate areas.
Work closely with engineers to specify and scope of new features and enhancements associated with custom client development
Supervisory responsibilities
The Technical Consultant is an expert individual contributor with no direct personnel responsibilities. This position requires a high degree of independence, initiative and self sufficiency. Strong team and collaboration skills are essential.
Desired Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and 3-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience using SQL in two or more of the following required: Oracle 8i or higher, MySQL, DB2, MSSQL 2K or higher
Individual must have strong working experience with the following technologies and platforms: PL/SQL, TSQL, ETL Programming, Java Web Applications Administration and Troubleshooting, Java development tools, Linux, Windows 2000 and up, Solaris, Tomcat, Apache, Websphere, OAS, CAS, LDAP, Load balancing appliances.
Experience in a self-directed work environment
Demonstrated ability to research and resolve problems using a variety of resources and tools.
Experience in a client facing role, i.e. technical support environment or equivalent consulting experience, is a plus.
Travel
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to travel from 25 to 50 percent of the time. Domestic travel is common. International travel may also be required from time to time.
