Join Our Team as a Specialized Crisis Counselor!

We are looking for people with a strong sense of purpose and focus to continually build confidence in yourself and our organization. Our Specialized Crisis Service (SCS) is designed to respond to psychiatric emergencies for children and youth up to age 18; providing in-the-moment crisis counseling to children and families with a wide variety of psychiatric needs.

We are seeking leaders for this dynamic position who are dedicated, creative, compassionate, and able to recognize and preserve the dignity of those we serve and work cooperatively with the community. We are looking for positive people who maintain a high level of enthusiasm for themselves and our mission of helping families discover their strengths and learn to resolve crises independently.

The Youth Villages SCS Program uses a treatment model where interventions are parent focused bringing change through the family, school, community, and peer groups; training staff intensively in conducting assessment, crisis management, in-home treatment, and respite care.

Other responsibilities of a SCS Counselor are:
-Working non-traditional hours
-24 hour availability
-Having flexibility in your schedule
-Working well with others in a highly supervised atmosphere
-Documentation that is on-line/ web-based and available to you from home
-Provide mobile crisis response and thorough, strength-based assessment of  children and families in crises in their natural environments.
-Utilize crisis respite home when appropriate
-Provide ongoing treatment and intervention to maintain the families until appropriate services are secured
-Collaborate with adult crisis teams and community consumers

job Requirements

A Master’s degree in the social service field is required with one year of experience counseling adolescents (internships do not qualify as experience for this position).
