Job Description

Staff Accountant

 

An industry leading company in Chicago is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their team reporting to an Accounting Manager and indirectly to the Corporate Controller.  The Staff Accountant will perform monthly account analysis and roll-forwards of select general ledger accounts to ensure they properly reflect the company's financial position in accordance with company policy and GAAP.

 

The Staff Accountant will also:

 

    -research account variances

    -complete bank account reconciliations

    -respond to questions regarding general ledger account issues

    -execute journal entries

    -develop recommendations for process enhancements

    -perform special assignments as required

    -assist the department as needed



Job Requirements

Desirable Staff Accountant candidates will possess:

 

    -Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

    -Two to three years prior experience in an accounting role

    -A strong grasp of GAAP and related concepts

    -Bank reconciliation experience

    -G/L and journal entry experience

    -Proficiency in Excel and Outlook

    -Strong organizational and analytical skills

    -The ability to relate business transactions to accounting processes and entries
