A Southern Healthcare Agency Registered Nurse is a competent conscientious and dependable member of the professional health care team.  The nurse functions independently, using the nursing process to make nursing assessments and judgments.

Duties include but may not be limited to:

• Provides total patient care according to physician’s orders and individual patient’s needs in accordance with recognized standards of practice and the hospital’s protocol and standards.

• Assesses and documents pertinent information that reflects the patients clinical condition, with respect to meeting all patient needs (physical, emotional, spiritual) Reports the same to oncoming nurses, charge nurse, and physicians.

• Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care given.

• Assigns patients to ancillary personnel based on patient needs and personnel’s qualifications.

• Supervises the care given by ancillary personnel.

• Acts as a role model for ancillary personnel and fellow nurses.

• Performs or supervises treatment and administers medications as required.

•  Assures cost effective outcome oriented care.

• Conducts team conferences and assumes responsibility for keeping plans, implementation and evaluations of nursing care unit.

• Is deeply involved with patient and/or family teaching.

• Cooperates in maintaining a high level of order, safety and strict control over narcotics and other federally scheduling drugs.

• Institutes emergency procedures in absence of a physician according to hospital protocol.

• Keeps abreast of current nursing trends and continuing education.

RN/ Registered Nurse

Successful Candidates will have:

• Current license as a MS RN.
• At least one year of clinical practice in chosen area
