The Senior Training Specialist holds primary responsibility for the design, delivery and evaluation of large scale programmatic training organizational development initiatives across all university departments.  Additionally the senior training specialist should provide thought leadership and guidance to the business regarding training and development best practice, instructional design principle, adult learning theory, leadership practice, performance improvement, change management and communication. 

 

  • Design, deliver and evaluate overall training and development programs and workshop sessions for employees and leaders across the university
  • Serve as a program manager in support of the overall leadership development and department strategy inclusive of program design, implementation, matrix resource management, vendor management and program evaluation
  • Consult and coach leaders on leadership best practice to support development plans and to drive adoption of leadership best practices
  • Initiate and lead medium to large sized projects and programs for the Training and Organizational Development Team
  • Assist director in establishing overall strategic direction of department and in selecting appropriate tools and services to support the talent development needs of the organization
  • All other duties as assigned
 



 

  • Advanced understanding of training and adult learning methodologies
  • Prior training and coaching experience required
  • Curriculum development / instructional design experience required
  • Program design / program management experience required
  • Experience in conducting needs analysis, job function analysis, task analysis and/or audience analysis at the program level required
  • Experience leading change required
  • Experience delivering soft skills courses required – certifications (DDI or similar) preferred
  • Executive coaching experience / certification preferred
  • Experience delivering team building interventions preferred
  • Experience in delivering and interpreting leadership assessments preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills 
  • Highly-developed training and facilitation skills
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to work with leadership staff to the executive level
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Highly-developed understanding of fundamental business concepts
  • Moderate understanding of organizational development and organizational design principle
