Job position: Biologist (Cell and Molecular Biology Assay)

Location: North Wales, PA

Duration: One Year

Position type: Contract

Duties:

• This position is in the high content assay group.
• Under the direction of a more senior staff member, will develop assays that monitor cell morphology, drug toxicity and protein expression using fluorescent microscopy.
• Using these assays will perform cell-based high-throughput imaging screens using compound libraries.
• The focus of this work will be to test compounds effects on cancer cells growing on 3-D matrix (e.g. SAGAR) as an "in vitro" model to predicts "in vivo" responses.
• Prefer experience in assay development in cell-based assays, tissue culture, gene expression assays (Taqman) and data analysis using Excel.

Skills:

• MS or BS with 1-2 years previous research experience, industry or academia, in mammalian cell and molecular biology is required.
• Familiarity with cell-based assays and microscopy are highly sought. Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software programs (Image analysis, and Spotfire) are a must.
• Quantitative and problem-solving skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with additional experience in image analysis and/or automation.

Education:

• BA/BS- Cell Biology, Molecular Biology - Required.
• MBA - Cell Biology, Molecular Biology - Preferred.
