Description

Job Function:  Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer Director and Chief Operating Officer to plan and implement development program and activities.  The Director of Development will provide leadership to all aspects of fundraising and development efforts targeting individuals, corporations and public and private foundations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Prospect Research of Individuals, Foundations and Corporations.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of the Board Development Committee.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Supervise Marketing Department, including but not limited to:  Administrator of Development/Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Encourage collaborative approach to supervision which affords opportunity for employee growth, creativity and development.
  • Ensure that staff is aware and trained in cultural issues.  Maintain an open dialogue with staff related cultural issues in service delivery. 
  • Develop material for Annual Appeal.
  • Write funding proposals for corportation and foundation prospects.
  • Write a newsletter and other development publications
  • Adhere to performance standards in a professional manner within the designated time frames.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule including some evening and weekend work
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility in making effective use of individual supervision, agency resources and trainings. 

 Necessary Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment under all circumstances.
  • Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently.
  • Must be able to see, speak and hear.  Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, use hands and arms and must occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be sensitive, flexible and responsive to gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic ability to communicate with staff and others.
  • To uphold and advance the values, ethics, knowledge and mission of the profession.
  • Serve as a positive representative for the agency, treating internal customers with respect, courtesy and fairness.

 


Requirements Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 - 5 years experience.
Valid drivers' license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record.
