Job Description

Position Description
Lead product planning and portfolio management activities of the long term roadmap for inpatient glucose management.  Collaborate across customer, technical and clinical/regulatory communities to put forth product plans that will win in the marketplace and are resourced for long-term success.

 

Position Responsibilities
• Provide marketing leadership to define, prioritize investment and manage a new category of products & services for hospital-based glucose management solutions.  
• Conduct market research and market analysis to identify unmet customer needs and product strategies.  Identify and manage key strategic partnerships/alliances to execute those strategies.
• Oversee development and execution of product strategy and definition. This position interfaces extensively with internal partners/stakeholders (within business unit and across the corporation), customers, international partners, downstream marketing and sales.
• Work with R&D to optimize product offering given business needs, market needs, schedule limitations and resource constraints.
• Manage projects and budgets associated with products in area of responsibility.  Drive implementation of programs in partnership with local marketing and sales management.
• Provide continuing analysis of competitive information and develop sales strategies (offense/defense), recommend product enhancements or developments to new product planning teams.
• Provide expert consultation on an ad hoc basis to representatives facing product marketing issues.
• Attend major medical meetings, sales meetings, and meet with customers and field representatives regularly to gather information, identify needs and assess opportunities to help drive marketing programs.

 

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree
• 8 years of work experience
• Previous experience must include 5 years in a commercial or technical marketing role including the development or launch of medical products or services.
• General knowledge of medical device industry practices, techniques and standards (e.g., role of clinical trials, reimbursement landscape, regulatory requirements)
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, monitor, and execute marketing projects.
• Demonstrated ability to think through complex issues.  
• Strong financial and business analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, influence, and presentation skills.
• Works well under pressure in a dynamic, global environment.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
• Marketing or product development experience of hospital-based medical devices or capital equipment.
• Experience in a start-up or new business venture.
• International experience in a marketing or sales function.
• Business Development work experience.
• Previous experience working cross-functionally with Sales/Marketing, Clinical, and Engineering.
• In-depth understanding of current and future diabetes therapies.
• New product design and development experience.
• MBA preferred

 

Physical Job Requirements
• Typical office work environment
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% (to company sponsored trade shows, partner meetings, etc.)
