Plant Controller
The Adhesive Electronic (AE) business unit of Henkel Corporation has revenues of â¬520M and profits of â¬50M, and is run globally from headquarters in Irvine, California. The business has strong presence is Asia and USA in line with the global electronics market. The business is rapidly changing, and has a dynamic work environment reflecting both the electronics market place and that the business was formed from the merger of two equally sized businesses. We are looking for an experienced financial professional to serve as Plant Controller at our manufacturing site in Rancho Dominguez, California.
Job Summary
The Plant Controller is responsible for overall financial management of the manufacturing plant. As a member of the local plant leadership team, the Plant Controller is a key contributor to enable effective and efficient local plant management. The Plant Controller provides financial planning and analysis support to local plant management, and ensures alignment with regional goals and objectives, both financial and operational. The Plant Controller is the highest ranking financial decision maker at the local manufacturing site.
 Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Prepare operating budgets for expense and capital (e.g., KP, E1, E2, TP).
- Prepare financial analysis to support capital expenditure requests via Invest II.
- Ensure that all plant assets are appropriately accounted for and coordinate periodic asset physical inventory.
- Ensure acumen and control in business decision making, where value creation and cash generation is considered at all times. Supporting local managers and teams, by providing and creating transparency in progress against plan through the provision of key measures, and to take an active part in projects that arise to optimize internal processes and the profitability of the business.
- Review financial results for compliance with accounting policies per the CSCA and established procedures. Report any deviations to Financial Operations.
- Review monthly financial results for propriety and take action to resolve identified problems.
- Prepare periodic fluctuation analysis (actual v plan) and take appropriate corrective action on identified variances.
- Prepare monthly forecasts (e.g., D5 and D25 forecasts) and analyze actual results v forecast.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and present to local plant management to support effective and efficient operations.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Approve local plant expenditures.
- Ensure local implementation of internal control procedures. Design and implement solutions when internal control gaps are identified.
- Coordinate and manage both internal and external audits.
- Provide training, leadership and coaching to promote the development of other individuals within the local business controlling team, even though not a direct-report (e.g., local cost accounting)
- Actively participate in the management of local safety and demonstrate safety leadership.
 Education & Professional RequirementsÂ
- B.S. Degree in Accounting
- 10 or more years of experience in general and/or cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
- Audit experience helpful
- Information Systems experience with general operation applications and accounting interfaces within an ERP environment
- Demonstrated decision making skills
- Good motivation skills, largely self-directed
- Excellent computer skills
- Problem solving ability and critical thinking skills required
- Good business acumen
- Ability to prepare ad-hoc financial analysis, often times, when perfect information is not available.Â
