Standard & Poor's is seeking a Senior Application Developer to be a key player in the analysis, design, implementation, and support of Corporate Business Systems applications. This role requires a technologist, who works effectively, both independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. The candidate must be a delivery-focused person with solid Microsoft .Net and SQL Server applications experience. The candidate will report to the Director of Application Development and will assist with day-to-day support and operations functions, design, development, code reviews, unit testing, and deployment tasks.
 
The responsibilities also include:
 

• Design and develop web based applications supporting the Corporate Business Systems businesses
• Produce system design documents and participate in technical walkthroughs
• Respond to and resolve production issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience; MS in Computer Science highly desirable
• 5+ years experience in application development, a minimum of 3 years of experience in MS .Net development, skills in creating full-featured .Net "solutions" at every level.
• 3+ years of SQL Server experience including supporting data design activities, particularly bridging application interfaces with data.
• Experience in providing application consulting and communicating technology direction
• Experience in conducting application design and code reviews, evaluating technologies, leading task forces for application design and development activities, communicating technology direction for all levels of management.
• Web application development experience using technologies, such as: ASP.NET, AJAX, VBScript and JavaScript.
• Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies (Agile preferred)
• Experience in the development environment, including IDE, web server, application server, source control system, unit-testing tool and defect management tool.
• Strong understanding of system architecture and object-oriented design.
• Strong SQL Server stored procedures, SQL optimization skills
• Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies
