Description Sutter Health Support Services (SHSS) is the Support Center for the Sutter Health affiliates, which houses all non-medical support departments that are not provided at the affiliates. It provides expertise and guidance to support affiliate functional departments.

Sutter Health Support Services is the home office of Sutter Health, Northern California's largest non-profit network of hospitals, long-term care centers, physician groups, medical foundations, research institutes, and home health agencies.  The departments at the home office help support the Sutter Health affiliate network through Finance, Training, Human Resources, Risk Management, Marketing, and Legal Counsel, just to name a few.

 

The Technical Specialist provides support to the Claims Administrator or Claims Representative. This includes initial set up of a claim within 24-48 hours of receipt, setting of reserves, management of medical only claims, timely payments, letters, and state mandated administrative forms resulting in an efficient work flow within the department and consistent with Best Practices.

Requirements
  • Education
     
    High School diploma or the equivalent is required. Completion of IEA (Insurance Education Association) courses toward workers' compensation certificate preferred.
     
  • Experience
     
    Prior clerical office experience is required, preferably within a workers' compensation, medical or legal office setting.
     
  • Knowledge
     
    Must be computer literate and have understanding of medical terminology.
     
  • Special Skills/Equipment
     
    Must have proven written and verbal communication skills, as well as, excellent interpersonal skills in order to handle public contacts. Ability to work in a confidential setting. Must be able to process checks, type letters, and complete forms accurately and error free.
