Description
Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  
  •            Works with Manufacturing Engineering to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  •            Works with Manufacturing Engineering and Supervision to devise sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  •            Responsible for preparing PPAP package for submission to OEM for approval.
  •            Responsible for reviewing and approving PPAP submissions from suppliers. (move to SQE's)
  •            Record and input all MRB data into database and calculate Internal PPMs for team for Operations Review. (move to Ops Team/Interns)
  •            Initiate and complete NRPs for customer complaints (defects) and calculate External PPM for team for Operations Review.
  •            Support Purchasing function as needed regarding evaluation and selection of suppliers (move to SQE's)
  •            Responsible for keeping the following process control documentation current for the team; PFMEA, Control Plan and Process Flow diagram.
  •            Support team in the Tollgate Design Development Process.  (APQP process)
  •            Coordinate Cpk health checks as required by the customer and report data with action plans. (move to ME's/Technicians)
  •            Perform internal audits as assigned per annual schedule.
  •            Prepare Operations review KPI's and countermeasures for internal and external quality PPM. (OPS Managers w/CM Experts) Update KPI boards for quality measures (Ops Team/Interns)
  •            Facilitate customer audits with operations team.  Lead corrective actions as required from customer audits.
  •            Perform preventive action using six sigma and kaizen to continuously improve processes and quality.
  •            Responsible for representing the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing TS16949 requirements.
     
    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
     
    Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.  S.) Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university; Masters preferred and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred.  Six Sigma Black Belt desirable.
     
    Needs to have the ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, safety rules and ISO procedure manuals and standards; as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
     
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments and six sigma problem solving methods.
