Job Description
Description:- Performs all accounting tasks and analysis for the OTTI (Other Than Temporarily Impaired) portfolio.
- Establishes monthly documentation for deferred interest payments and completing the quarterly amortization schedules for interest income and OCI (Other Comprehensive Income).
- Prepares analytical models as needed and is able to interpret the data and explain to others.
- Understands and stays current on all the existing and new accounting rules associated with the investments in the portfolio. Maintains knowledge of investments and investment system and stays abreast of all changes relating to the investments portfolio including the OTTI process.
- Provides explanation to internal/external auditors and other staff members as needed.
- Performs ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed, and assists other Bank Portfolio Operations analysts in completing daily trade activity and input into investment system.
Job Requirements
Requirements:- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
- Three to five years of work experience (preferably with Bank investment portfolios at a financial institution).
- Proficient in Excel and Word or similar applications and accustomed to working with automated systems in a client server environment.
- Have the ability to gather and analyze financial information.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of accounting for security investments.
- Must be a self starter and have attention to detail.
- Must be able to understand and interpret financial data affecting Bank portfolio investments.
