Essential Job Functions
Responsible for negotiation of optimum contract pricing, terms and conditions for team targeted savings contracts, attempting to satisfy all specified client criteria.
Responsible for managing the competitive bid process related to the creation of team targeted savings contracts including:
  • execution of RFIs
  • development of bid strategy appropriate to each category
  • meeting with committees to validate strategy, collect bid requirements
  • collaboration with legal staff to customize Broadlane contract template with specific client requirements for each category
  • execution of RFPs
  • negotiation of bid responses with supplier representatives, including Broadlane legal staff as needed regarding supplier exceptions to Broadlane contract language
  • collaboration with legal staff to draft the final negotiated contract terms, conditions and exhibits for each contract proposal
  • securing supplier’s authorized signature on the final negotiated contract offers
  • meeting with committees to seek contract approval/award
    Responsible for collaboration with and support of the team Director (or Mgr) of Portfolio Marketing & Communication in their client facing duties related to the team portfolio.

    Responsible for periodic business reviews with contracted suppliers and maintaining open channels of communication regarding contract performance and any necessary problem resolution. Problem resolution involving clients will require close collaboration with the team Director (or Mgr) of Portfolio Marketing & Communication.
    Limited occasional travel may be required.
  • Requirements Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and group purchasing contracts. Ability to write concise and well organized RFIs, RFPs, and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present, communicate and exchange information to others. Ability to utilize clear and concise communication methodologies including listening and comprehension skills to interact with internal and external business associates.
    Reasoning Ability:  Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out Strategic Sourcing Services policies and procedures, as well as to identify problems and necessary solutions related to contract negotiation with suppliers.
    Interpersonal Skills:  Able to conduct self-confident and articulate business conversations with suppliers and internal business associates.  Ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing resources and collaborating to achieve deadlines and goals.
    Negotiation Skills:  Able to plan negotiation strategy and tactics appropriate for different contracting situations. Ability to move negotiations forward to a supplier’s best and final offer, in the necessary time frame designated for the project.  Ability to maintain grace under pressure in difficult negotiations, always displaying a high level of professional courtesy.

    Required Experience and Education
    4 year college degree required, with advanced degree in business or related field preferred.  Candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and be able to demonstrate successful track record.
