We are seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) Administrator to provide on-going support and development of the NOC OSS infrastructure.  This is a contract position.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for architecting, implementation, maintenance and support of a Network Operations Center (NOC) operational network to the levels of the Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) infrastructure at the Element, Network security and Service Management levels for existing centers in Texas and California, and in future expansion locations.
o    Architecting includes selection of hardware and applications necessary to deploy an operational network for management of customers SONET, Wireless, Ethernet networks SANS, security operations and server management.
o    Implementation includes Proof of Concept, deployment and testing of hardware and software selections.
o    Maintenance includes upgrades, overbuilds and enhancements as necessary to maintain a fully redundant and survivable network.
o   Support of NOC engineers as required to support hardware and/or software for the NOC customers network.
 
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Manage applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources for NOC network.
  • Create detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services.
  • Document systems configurations and upgrades.
  • Enhance and implement change and control policies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Troubleshoot networking and operating systems problems.
  • Obtain quotes for any related hardware and software necessary for the NOC network and operations.
  • Assist with documenting NOC related work instructions, network records, circuit records; by interfacing with Program Managers, Technical Publications, Customers, Field Personnel and Management.
  • Work with NOC management for budgeting and forecasting network and operational requirements.
  • Provide on-call support to resolve networking issues after normal business hours
  • 10% Travel
 


Job Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications or related field
  • CCNP, CCDP, CISSP preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - written and verbal
  • Strong PC literacy to include MS Office, MS Project, Visio
  • Understanding of business process design, application development methodologies, and software/architecture.
  • Strong domain knowledge of IP/MPLS/VPN, Gigabit Ethernet
  • SONET, Ethernet, Wireless networking
  • CCNP, CCDP, CISSP preferred
  • UNIX, WINxx, PIX-xx
  • Experience with portal and reporting applications.
