Description Provides statistical and financial premium analysis and possesses in-depth knowledge of all assigned plans and functionality of the applicable administration system. Performs compliance reporting functions at all levels. Works with account executives, carriers, agents/producers, customer service, marketing, and MIS.

Communicates with account executives, carriers, and other parties in regards to insurance issues and plans.
Balances and remits premiums to carriers, royalties to associations, surplus lines taxes and fees to sub-producers as specified in agreements.
Reviews all carrier changes to ensure premium collection and reporting procedures are in place.
Prepares monthly journal entries and premium transfers to record invoiced and/or collected premiums.
Prepares, analyzes, and issues assigned status reports.
Reviews computer output and communicates with MIS to resolve issues.
Gathers information and assists in the preparation of management reports.
Reviews system reports to ensure accuracy.
Reconciles and monitors liability and receivable general ledger accounts monthly.
Maintains commission rates, payee databases and historical files.
Complies and works closely with external financial auditors
Develops and completes various system testing.
Other duties as assigned.

Accountant II - Reconciles liability and receivable accounts to general ledger. Creates reports and analyzes results. Uses advanced knowledge to complete special departmental projects. Acts as a resource and mentor to less experienced colleagues. Utilizes problem solving skills on a daily basis.

Requirements

Two year accounting degree or equivalent experience required.
Four year accounting degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Must be advanced in the use of Microsoft Access.
One year insurance experience preferred.
Understanding of brokerage and compensation agreements preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Detail oriented and with problem solving skills to ensure accuracy.
Excellent computer skills and the ability to navigate through multiple systems without assistance.
Must be highly proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.
