Provides direct support and technical advisement to the VISN 16 Clinical Systems Program Office and the 10 VA Medical Centers across the network.
Analyzes, evaluates, coordinates, and reports on design, configuration, procurement, implementation and operations of an enterprise-wide equipment and imaging/communications infrastructure, display and integration of the electronic patient record system, clinical information systems and various telemedicine/telehealth technologies.
Serves as Technical Specialist for imaging equipment/systems, and is the primary source of review and reporting of DICOM and HL7 conformance statements provided by PACS and modality vendors during the annual consolidated VISN-wide purchase planning process.
Serves as the primary point of contact & liaison with SCVAHCN medical centers and vendors to ensure inventory is accurate and purchase proposals/quotes, recommendations are consistent, compliant policy and facility needs meet all DICOM and HL& functionality requirements.
Measures and monitors efficiency and effectiveness of health care operations to include integrating and computerized healthcare delivery system. Such measures include: patient outcomes, bed-days of care, adverse events, customer services, image quality, technical/ performance reliability, wait times and report completion turnaround' times.
Responsible for working independently in the accomplishment of assigned functions.
Exercises independent judgment and discretion in interpreting, adapting and applying guidelines to fit unique situation and/or define feasible solutions to overcome obstacles and resolve conflict/problems.
Work is mostly sedentary with some walking, bending, lifting and carry of computers, manuals and reference books.
Travel to medical centers in the Network, CIO field offices and across the country is sometimes required.
