BASIC FUNCTION

This position is responsible and accountable for the direction and leadership of the Human Resources function.  The function provides a broad variety of services and products for the organization which include Staffing, Employee Relations, Training, Employee Benefits, Organization Change Process, Employee Communications, Employee Pay Systems, Employee Records, Cafeteria Services,  Public Relations and Community Affairs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

*           Ensure thorough familiarity with policies and procedures  in relation to Standards of Business Conduct and trains and motivates subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

 

*           Ensures all employee policies and procedures are interpreted fairly and applied consistently.

 

*           Ensures staffing related activities and services are properly maintained to include the hiring and orientation process, administration of our temporary staffing services contract, and internal job preference system.  Ensures relationships with Employment Security Commission and Job Service are maintained.  Ensures Affirmative Action Plans are executed and compliances achieved.

 

*           Ensures a pro-active Employee Relations Program in which all questions, issues and complaints are addressed timely and effectively; that the systems to resolve conflict or take corrective action are administered objectively.

 

*           Ensures the organization effectively identifies, implements, and documents training requirements in a highly cost effective manner.  Ensures a balance between technical and human relations/team training takes place.  Ensures relationships with technical schools and training sources are maintained.

 

 

*           Ensures the High Performance Systems processes are continually renewed and improved, that our self directed work team initiatives have the necessary resources to reach maturity and that the organization design is consistent with our evolution and world class manufacturing philosophies.

 

*           Ensures Employee Pay Systems are administered fairly and effectively, that performance feedback systems are aligned to organization objectives, that wage surveys and evaluations are conducted objectively.

 

*           Ensures Employee Records are maintained accurately, that the system for records retention is organized and meets both internal company and external Federal Government guidelines.

 

*           Ensure Public Relations activities are conducted in a highly professional manner and that Corporate requirements are met in dealing with media contacts.

 

*           Ensures a strong Community Affairs program which includes charitable contributions and involvement in key community initiatives.  Ensures that our facility/business is, and is viewed, as a good community partner.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS  

*        Bachelor's degree in Human/Industrial Relations, Psychology, Communications, Sociology, or Business Administration.

 

*        Eight to ten years of experience within a broad array of Human Resources functions sufficient to develop a full generalist capability are preferred.  At least four of these years should involve a significant role in Employee Relations and/or Organization Development in union-free manufacturing environment.
