Linux System Administrator

Higher One’s Linux System Administrator role is ideal for an independent, fast learning, and motivated individual who wishes to increase their knowledge and mastery of Linux System Administration, software engineering and open source applications. Initial responsibilities will include basic administration and support for linux environments. Additional responsibilities and projects will be added based on the speed and skill with which the first set of responsibilities is mastered. The more you learn the more fun stuff you’ll get to play with.
Day To Day Responsibilities
- Installation & administration of linux environments. (Red Hat, CentOS, Gentoo).
- Patching, account creation, upgrades, backups, etc
- Installation & administration of application software such as Jboss, Apache, MySQL, Moodle, Jabber, Asterisk
- Issue resolution and troubleshooting for the linux environments and applications.
- Any other random projects that involve a computer, a command line and lots of caffeine*
*Note: although it is highly recommended by many current employees, caffeine intake is optional.
