URS Washington Division is seeking a Performance Assessment Engineer to be based in our Aiken, SC office to work on the Savannah River Remediation Project.Responsibilities: Support the development and maintenance of performance assessment documents for the Liquid Waste System, and in some cases manipulation of fate and transport models including PORFLOW or Goldsim computer modeling codes. Development of the bases for input parameters used in performance assessments including the writing of supporting reference documents or input packages as well as the actual writing of the performance assessment or associated Special Analyses Other Information: Position requires good interpersonal skills to effectively team with other closure personnel in developing overall model approach and assumptions and analysis of the results. Minimum Experience/Qualifications/Requirements: BS in Environmental or Nuclear Engineering 5-10 years of experience. Local candidates are highly preferred as relocation is not available for this position. A strong multi-disciplined technical background is needed to interface with multiple subject matter experts to determine the key parameters for realistic modeling of the waste site (liquid waste tanks, Saltstone disposal cells). Problem solving skill to support analysis of the modeling results to identify areas for additional sensitivity analyses is also critical. Strong oral and written communication skills are required, including the ability to effectively present the modeling work in an understandable manner. US Citizenship is required for this position. Candidates must be able to obtain a Department of Energy security clearance.
