The Time Warner Cable West Division currently seeks a Network Design & Capacity Engineer for our Business Class Department in our San Diego office. The following is a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.POSITION SUMMARY: SONET Engineer to lead the build out and operation of a SONET network to all levels of TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) services (DS1 through OC192). This individual will engineer, design, configure and implement network elements to support voice, video and data traffic. SONET, TDM, Ethernet over SONET, Optical transport technologies (DWDM, CWDM, ADM, OADM, ROADM). This individual will also perform hands on operational engineering - configure equipment, deal with outages and network issues, work with equipment vendors.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work with single mode & multi mode fiber and their various connectors and tools: add-drop multiplexer, digital and analog multiplexers, familiarity with fiber construction and/or termination a plus.

Support TDM/SONET based services to TWCBC customer base.

Deploy and maintain transport connecting Wireless Carrier cell towers to Time Warner Cable's SONET rings.QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in a technical or mathematical field preferred.

Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) preferred.

Familiarity and/or certification training with Network Management Systems such as: HP OpenView, Micromuse Netcool, InfoVista and CiscoWorks is a plus.

Familiarity and/or certification training with GRANIT, Alcatel-Lucent Integrated Network Controller (INC), Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM), and C-COR NSM is highly desired.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Must be able to lift equipment, up to 150 lbs.

Must have a valid California Drivers License and a safe driving history.

Must be willing to work overtime.

Must be able to work outdoors.

Must be able to climb ladders.

Must be able to work from high positions (must not suffer from Acrophobia; a.k.a. the fear of heights).
