General Summary
Godiva Direct is a complex direct-to-consumer business driven by
e-commerce and catalog / #800 sales. It currently has $41MM top line sales with growth of +10% vs. PY projected in 2009.
Godiva's Retail business represents $175MM in sales, and relies on direct marketing efforts from this group to drive boutique customer traffic and sales. This position provides overall management for the Godiva.com online business and all online marketing efforts to drive both Direct and multi channel transactions..
Principal Accountabilities
- 30% - Overall management of Godiva.com website. Develop and manage all site content, functionality, and re-launches/enhancements. Manage relationship with outside creative development and hosting agency (Fry). Determine strategy and oversee execution of all initiatives; prioritize and manage projects to timelines, budget, and resources. Work closely with web agency, fulfillment agency, and internal teams to develop new site functionality, troubleshoot site issues, and determine appropriate resolution. Oversee both search engine optimization and on-site search optimization.
- 20% - Oversee strategy, creative direction, timing, and execution of online marketing activities, including SEM, email (Direct, Retail, Rewards), affiliate, and mobile marketing programs, display advertising, and social media, as well as new initiatives (virtual gifting program, widgets, credit card promotions, etc.). Ensure alignment and synergies across all programs. Ensure all campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.
- 20% - Manage promotional planning and analysis for Godiva Direct. Develop and execute motivating promotions to support seasonal and evergreen priorities; review performance and ROI, and determine implications/recommendations for future campaigns. Manage promotional calendar and communication to all team members.
- 10% - Provide strategic direction and manage development of company-wide online projects and promotional campaigns (e.g. Rewards launch, Holiday / Valentine's Day sweepstakes, Chocoiste micro site, Bridal campaign, Truffle Month), new product launches (Gems, new Licensing platforms, Dessert Truffles, Legacy Truffles), and other PR and Marketing initiatives. Determine requirements and manage implementation and execution where necessary, acting as liaison between Godiva teams and Fry/GSI. Provide post-event analysis and recommendations.
- 10% - Provide business intelligence and performance analytics. Using Webtrends and Coremetrics tools report on site KPI's and user trends and determine implications for future planning; present to senior management on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis. Oversee usability studies, site audits, satisfaction insight reviews (through Foresee) to improve customer experience and increase conversion.
- 5% - Overall management of Interactive Marketing budget. Ensure all campaigns are properly funded, and come in to budget.
- 5% - Manage interactive vendor relationships: Fry (web agency), Acxiom (email marketing), Range (SEM), Foresee (customer satisfaction survey), Geoserve (store locator). Continually evaluate partner performance. Work with Procurement to review existing agreements, identify opportunities and efficiencies, and engage in RFP process when necessary.
Job Complexity
- Ability to prioritize all work being done by outside web agency in order to complete initiatives in a timely manner and within budgeted hours and $$. Must be conversant in website technology in order to determine if the amount of resources allotted to each project is reasonable. Must be able to troubleshoot when site issues occur and then be able to determine the best course of action for resolution. Must be able to gain respect of Customer Service, IT, 3rd party fulfillment partner, and web Agency in order to take the lead on diagnosing any issues and gaining consensus quickly on an action plan.
- Ensures that all site content (product and marketing news) is merchandised for greatest impact and visitor conversion.
- Ability to gather information on website trends (benchmark Godiva.com against other websites) a well as determine what new technologies Godiva.com may want to implement. Must be able to lead cross-functional team (Direct, Customer Service, Operations and outside agency) to make sure all issues are thoroughly examined to understand the impact on consumer satisfaction, site stability, fulfillment process etc before changes are made.
- Ability to create a marketing strategy that supports all online and multi-channel activities, especially through email marketing program. Must be able to determine optimal creative direction by considering at past campaign performance and communication objective.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Minimum education required: BA or BS degree
Education desired: BA or BS degree or MBA
Years of relevant experience: 8-10 years, 8 years E-Commerce
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of online and e-commerce marketing strategy
- Experience managing website content and functionality; ability to assist with diagnosing site issues
- Strong consumer intuition, which can be leveraged into business building strategies
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team of people (from creative directors to engineers, customer service reps to fulfillment team, etc) with clear direction, passion and consensus building.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions quickly
