Business Improvement Analyst on the BEAR Team Job No

Teck Alaska, Red Dog Operations, the world's largest producer of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Business improvement analyst for our BEAR team.

Red Dog Mine, located in NW Alaska, is a modern, technically challenging open pit mine, mill and port facility. It is a remote, but modern and well-equipped fly-in fly-out operation that provides free room and board for employees, and regular transportation to and from the point of hire. Rotation schedule will be two weeks on-site and one week off-site or four weeks on and two off-site. Salary depends on experience.

Reporting to the Business Improvement Team Leader, the Business improvement analyst provides support to the operation through analysis and while cooperating the departments to improve production, productivity, safety and environmental performance.

Requirements: * History of safe work practices and attendance.
* Willing to learn and apply our business improvement tools and techniques.
* Good computer skills, and experience with developing spreadsheets, presentations, and word processing.
* Willing to sell ideas and opinions based on your data analysis.
* Willing to deliver a public (PowerPoint type) presentation to large groups.
* Capable of following standard work and able to meet deadlines.
* Capable of field work with operators and mechanics implementing and following up on ideas.
* This includes the proper use of industrial PPE including the ability to wear a respirator.
* Enjoys working in a team setting.
* Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED.
* Education preference: College or university courses in business, engineering, or science.

Preferred skill preference are some familiarity with 5s, root cause analysis, advance charting and data presentation, and lean manufacturing techniques. In addition, the person is capable of trouble shooting worksheet formula problems, macro creation, database queries, and electronic file organization. At ease with one on one meetings. Likes to spend time in the field, in an industrial environment, coaching individuals to complete tasks and identify ways to improve their methods.
