Nature of Role

 

Reporting to the VP and Associate General Counsel in Hartford, this position will support Lincoln's variable life products (development, registration and administration) and other Hartford based operations.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

Principal counsel with respect to the development, drafting and administration of private placement, variable universal life (VUL) products.With VP and Associate General Counsel support the development, drafting, registration and administration of retail VUL products.Principal counsel for our life insurance long-term care products/riders.Support Producer Solutions (agent contracting, licensing and compensation).With VP and Associate General Counsel, provide support to Underwriting and New business department, Life Insurance Operations.Provide support to primary Distribution counsel on distribution and marketing matters.


Job Requirements

Technical/Professional Knowledge

 

Working knowledge of or experience with the following is required:Drafting and registering variable insurance products.Investment Company Act of 1940, Securities Act of 1933, including EDGAR filing requirements and procedures, as they relate to variable insurance products.Rules and regulations of the Financial Services Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).Producer licensing issues.Market conduct concerns for insurance companies, sales representative and products.Working knowledge of the following is desirable:Product filing requirements and the operating rules and procedures of state departments of insurance.Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Investment Advisors Act of 1940.General life insurance law.General corporate law.

Qualifications or previous experience:

 

Minimum 3 years experience, with emphasis on '40 act work and life and annuity registered product/regulatory work.

 

Licensing and/or certification requirements, including education:

 

J.D. or LLM from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.

Member in good standing of a state bar.
