Overview:
This team member is required to lead a major center business unit, which includes decision making in area involving customers, team members, operational issues, business planning, priority setting, creating staff schedules, team member performance appraisals, compliance with company policies, and assisting the center manager with any and all areas of center business. The team member is also required to perform all functions normally performed by the Center Production Operator, Center Specialist, Center Customer Service Associate and Center Customer Service Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
This is a representative list of the general duties the Assistant Manager may be asked to perform and is not intended to be all-inclusive
Leads major center business unit which involves managing customers, team members, operational issues in the consultation zone of the center, monitoring and facilitating all production and retail processes including the tracking, pick-up and delivery and quality check processes. Manages center in the absence of the center manager.
Interviews job applicants, complies with all company hiring policies and assists center manager with the hiring of team members
Plans, organizes and directs the activities of four to fifteen assigned team members
Evaluates the efficiency and productivity of assigned team members by establishing performance standards and objectives and assist the center manager with conducting regular performance appraisals
Assists team members in goal setting and skill development
Provides feedback on disciplinary actions and administers Positive Discipline after review by manager
Provides work leadership on assigned shifts
Provides performance related feedback on team members to the center manager
Provides training and coaching to team members on assigned shifts
Sets priorities of customer projects
Performs manager functions and daily close-out procedures on POS.
Assists center manager in review and transmission of payroll
Ensures that work produced by team members is in accordance with company standards
Monitors and complies with quality control procedures
Ensures that the center has the necessary supplies, equipment and inventory
May set staff work schedule which includes meal and rest periods
Ensures that all postings and information displayed in the center are up to date
Complies with and enforces FedEx Office established policies and procedures
Follows copying protocol (copyright law, confidentiality, and careful handling of original documents)
Performs administrative duties, including bidding, ordering supplies and inventory control
Perform all other duties as needed or requested, to include assisting with and possibly managing all center operations
Secondary responsibility for coordination of all shipping related services and activities, to include:
Provides customer service by determining appropriate shipping methods, informing customers of company products, services, routes, and rates.
Ensures quality customer service is given to customers by providing packaging services, as well as offering information about company products and services.
Offer assistance to customers by suggesting appropriate shipping methods. Maintains inventory of shipping supplies.
Maintains log of all incoming and outgoing parcels, prepares parcels for pickup by delivery drivers, and sorts incoming parcels.
Assembles parcels and prepares goods for shipping by wrapping items in insulation, inserting items into shipping containers, weighing packages, and affixing labels to parcels.
Supervises other team members. Performs duties with minimal supervision by center manager. Must defer decisions involving changes in center procedures to center manager.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least one to three years of related experience, prior supervisory experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical stamina sufficient to stand during entire shift, excluding rest breaks
Physical stamina sufficient to move and lift 55 pound boxes
Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation, instruction, persuasion, or speaking with others
Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a high stress environment, under substantial time pressure
Ability to assist center manager in all areas
Ability to lead, direct and supervise team members
Ability to perform the General Duties and Responsibilities set forth above in a consistent and efficient manner
