POSITION SUMMARY
The Product & Regulatory Affairs Consultant will be responsible for benefit contract language development, regulatory submissions and negotiations, and compliance activities as they relate to Aetna products and programs. The consultant will participate in product development work teams, determine if product features have regulatory impact, draft language to clearly describe product features and manage filing initiatives. Responsibilities also include:
Analyze insurance laws and regulations, determine applicability to Aetna products and programs, draft language that meets regulatory requirements and prepare regulatory filings.
-Educate business areas on regulatory requirements and provide consultative support regarding the impact of various company initiatives to forms and policies that are filed with the state.
Promote and enforce compliance with state/federal laws and regulations, risk management policies and company policies affecting Aetna.
Build and maintain effective relationships with state and federal regulators, as well as internal clients, to ensure timely approval of product filings.
Manage projects related to new products and product enhancements under tight deadlines, develop benefit language, oversee the state filing progress, and communicate regularly with business clients.
Monitor industry and regulatory trends to identify potential risk factors and the need for change.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Analyze proposed benefits for compatibility with state regulatory market requirements
Apply state and federal legislation and regulations
Business Writing
Communicate with regulators and others to discuss and resolve compliance issues
Negotiate with state regulators on Aetna business requirements and compliance
