QVC’s Interactive Department has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Business Engineer and Architect. Reporting to Manager, Information Architecture and Technology the individual will be accountable for technical decisions related to IBM Websphere Commerce.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute interface design solutions including site layouts, site maps, wireframes, navigation design, content inventories, storyboards, information organizational models, error handling, working DHTML prototypes and documentation to illustrate the structure and user interface design of a project.
Develop, test and refine prototypes. Work closely with IT, technical, creative, merchandising and marketing teams to add &/or modify end user functionality for QVC.com, including pre-implementation testing, documentation, and user testing.
Gather and analyze business requirements from non-technical users and help translate into detailed functional requirements that meet business needs. Work with IT to ensure success deployment.
Develop and execute user research and usability testing programs, working with the Market Research team to create exercises and test plans and observing actual user test sessions. Make tangible recommendations based on user research results.
Design and recommend site improvements to Manager, Information Architecture and Technology and/or Manager, Web Production.
Manage multiple projects from start to end.
Assist in training and development of junior staffs
Research, evaluate, and recommend technology and process solutions based on existing business requirements and future directions. Review competing products and recommend design solutions that differentiate QVC’s website from the competition
Assist basic departmental technical issues and application training.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Mastery of recent released of IBM Websphere Commerce for B2C consumer retail web sites.
Demonstrable understanding of user-centered design principles. Knowledge of user interface design, usability, information architecture, wireframes, navigational flow diagrams, storyboarding, and human factors.
Mastery of HTML and advanced knowledge of JavaScript and CSS. Familiarity with capabilities of AJAX, Flash, Flex, PHP, XML, XSL and ASP. Understanding of web metrics and multivariate testing.
Solid technical background with good design and business sense.
Ability to manage multiple complex information architecture projects from start to end.
Software: Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, MS Office, Visio, General Internet and PC Skills
Understanding of Web Browsers and the constraints of designing for online media.
Some knowledge or experience with web multimedia, including streaming video and flash.
Must have experience acting as project lead on site development projects, including the creation of wireframes, flowcharts and functional specifications. Be able to demonstrate UI leadership skills in multiple project environments.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Multimedia & Web Design, Human Factors, Information Systems, Computer Science or similar preferred.
Experience: IBM Websphere Commerce (B2C Retail): 2+ years
Information / user interface design, Functional Analysis, Internet Technology experience: 5 to 8 years
Project management experience: 1-2 years
Web/Graphic Design experience a plus
