Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer or designee, develops, organizes, directs and evaluates a comprehensive communications, marketing and community relations programs for IDLA and acts as a community and media relations liaison. The Public Information Specialist is a year round at-will position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Organizes communication activities to foster public understanding of IDLA vision and strategy, goals, policies, programs and services.
Brings to public attention through various forms of media, significant facts, opinions and interpretations to keep the public informed.
Maintains effective relationships with civic, corporate, business, and educational organizations, community organizations, and the public.
Represents IDLA professionally in multiple forms of social media, networking, and other online communities.
Represents IDLA in interdepartmental, community, and professional meetings.
Monitors legislative policies, process and impact to the Idaho Digital Learning Academy.
Manages partnerships with a variety of entities to include parents, businesses, state agencies, legislators, districts and media.
Develops materials to be presented in press announcements, including press releases, press briefings, and feature articles on various services.
Develops and implements methods and materials to promote special events sponsored by the IDLA or its departments.
Develops, coordinates and participates in news conferences, special events, and other programs of city and public interest; develops strategies for public information delivery.
Coordinates and conducts special events, appreciation events, and city/community functions.
Coordinates assigned activities with other departments, maintains files of newspaper articles and other related media clippings.
Prepares communication materials in a variety of formats.
Facilitates the accurate and full coverage of IDLA/e-Learning issues by the news media.
Supervises the design and content of publications, including informational booklets, posters, and flyers.
Writes scripts for slide, video and other presentations.
Advises staff in media relations and public information policies and procedures.
Disseminates and manages digital media and any technology driven public awareness materials and information.
