Night Shift In-House Paramedic with EMT and ACLS certifications - Pharmaceutical CRO - San Antonio
We offer a full range of clinical research services. We provide expert advice on everything from protocol development to regulatory submission. Our two modern clinical research facilities in Austin (100 beds) and San Antonio (250 beds) offer a full range of clinical research services.
We are looking for people for the night/graveyard shift for this position.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee study procedures, perform study procedures and provide medical coverage as needed while subjects are in-house.
• Perform technical, laboratory, and administrative tasks following company procedures and study protocol requirements.
• Always represent company in a professional manner (verbal written and in appearance) when interacting with sponsors, subjects, outside vendors and fellow employees.
• Under the direction of the Medical Director's standing orders, functions as company's medical coverage in case of an emergency for subjects visiting the clinic.
• Oversee all study procedures to ensure that they are performed on time, following both the study protocol and company procedures.
• Act as the primary contact for subjects while in-house when the Coordinator is not available.
• Document all adverse events reported and observed per staff or protocol requirements while subjects are in-house.
• Indirectly supervises technical and laboratory staff in the absence of a Full-Time Supervisor.
• Perform phlebotomy on subjects as needed at timed intervals.
• Perform study specific procedures and duties per protocol requirements.
• Assist in training PRN staff and new Full Time staff.
• Perform procedures and dispose of contaminated supplies according to OSHA requirements.
• Once trained, perform the following procedures per company guidelines and study protocol requirements:
- Vital signs,
- ECGs,
- Serve meals/snacks,
- Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, and other body fluids),
- Search subjects and their belonging when entering and leaving the facility,
- Perform skin testing for allergens,
- Insert IV catheters,
- Perform vein ratings,
- Dispense concomitant medications as needed and directed by the Principal Investigator
Requirements:
• 1+ years of experience as a paramedic, performing at the ALS skill level.
• 1+ years working as a Lead Medic on an ALS unit for a 911 or private EMS agency preferred.
• Course completion in a state approved paramedic training course.
• Texas Department of Health Paramedic and/or EMT certification or license.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Background in performing technical and laboratory procedures; experience performing phlebotomy, vital signs, ECGs and laboratory procedures.
• Good customer service skills and be able to perform duties at a fast pace without errors.
• Must have good documentation and organizational skills and good attention to detail.
