Over 145 years ago, Edward Payson Heald opened the first Heald College in San Francisco, California. Heald’s mission was to prepare students for businesss careers by providing them with career education that focused on practical, hands-on learning. Heald has persevered since 1863 weathering two major earthquakes and two World Wars - always remaining true to its original mission. As the needs of the workplace changed, Heald College curriculum evolved from business courses to degrees in healthcare, legal, business and technology, opening campuses across California, Oregon, and Hawaii.

We are gearing up for a very exciting period in our long history and currently have an opening for a part time, adjunct Environmental Science Instructor at our Roseville campus. OVERVIEW: The role of this position is to help facilitate student learning in program areas through a variety of methodologies, types of assessment and, to facilitate an environment conducive to student success. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * promote student retention and actively participate in campus activities designed to promote student success; * provide quality instruction; * meet course objectives, requirements, and student learning outcomes; * manage the classroom environment using a variety of teaching strategies; * provide formative and summative assessment of student learning; * facilitate a safe, positive and supportive learning environment; * support students in their efforts to succeed; * maintain accurate records and submit records and data by the due dates, compliance with FERPA, and other regulations; * participate in professional growth opportunities and support campus events; * model and employ professional and positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and students; * work collaboratively with all members of the Heald-wide community;* serve on committees; * advise students; * participate in reviewing curriculum and course related conference calls;* provide feedback on textbooks for course adoptions; * respond to course/program surveys; and * adapt to changes in the work environment. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:* Excellent communication skills* A desire to support and motivate students throughout their academic career at Heald* Candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences or related field. Qualifying related fields include: Earth Sciences, Biology, Urban Studies, Regional Planning, Oceanography, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biochemistry, and Toxicology. Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements in order to be qualified: 1.)Hold a Master’s degree relative to the course content2.)Hold a Master’s degree and at least 12-14 graduate or undergraduate semester units in the course content, or3.)Hold a Master’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience in the fieldHeald College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.(cb)
