Job Description

Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, as well as four major Children's specialty centers in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Pensacola.

The Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, with a long-established and excellent reputation in pediatric health care, draws a broadly diverse patient population. The hospital, supported in part through an endowment from the Nemours Foundation, continues to grow both regionally and nationally.



The Post Doctoral Fellow will design and conduct original research for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory.  With the consent of the Lab Head or Center Director, the Post Doctoral Fellow is able to apply as Principal Investigator for externally funded grants.  In addition, the Post Doctoral Fellow may assist with routine laboratory management work as requested by the Laboratory Head or Center Director.   

1.                   Independent performance of experiments using a range of molecular biological,

and cell biological techniques including live cell microscopy and instruction and guidance to others

in these techniques.

 

2.                   Assist with maintenance and operations in the laboratory in which these studies occur.

 

3.                   Data analysis and the production of oral and written reports, participation in team

meetings at which the work will be discussed and planned.

 

4.                   Write draft grant proposals and manuscripts.

 

5.                   Assist the Lab Head in preparation of research proposals to external funding agencies.

 

6.                   Participation in collaborative projects with other laboratories.

 

 



Job Requirements

A grant-funded postdoctoral fellowship to study growth factor signaling in cancer is immediately available at the newly established Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. Candidates with demonstrated excellence in cell and molecular biology, live cell microscopy and in vivo animal models are encouraged to apply to join this multidisciplinary research effort; a doctoral degree is required.
