Workstatus: Full Time

  The Sr. Dosimetrist in Radiation Oncology functions as lead worker of Staff Dosimetrists in providing comprehensive treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Primary functions include:* Designs and implements quality assurance procedures in accordance with departmental procedures.* Provides support to physicists in dosimetry calibration, QA and new procedures.* Coordinates/participates in brachytherapy procedures.* Provides leadership and guidance to the dosimetry staff in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.Qualifications:1. A Bachelor of Science BS degree in physics or related fields or graduation from an approved Medical Dosimetry Program through the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists AAMD or a registered RTT and at least 5 years working as a dosimetrist is required.2. Certification by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board MDCB is required.3. A minimum of five years experience as an Dosimetrist in a Clinical Radiation Therapy department, or equivalent, is required.4. General knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Understands physics and dosimetry principles of external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy.5. Knowledge of radiation therapy equipment, such as, linear accelerators, radiation therapy simulator and CT simulator. Understands the working principles of dose measurement instruments and detectors such as diodes, ionization chambers, TLDs and film dosimetry.
