Electrical Utility General Supervisor

This opportunity is located at one of the largest Alcoa locations and includes significant potential for advancement and career growth. Relocation is authorized. Davenport is about the size of an 18 hole golf course under one roof and manufactures over 2000 different product lines.

This role of the electrical utility General Supervisor is to oversee the repair and maintenance of the plant’s power distribution system, communication networks, HVAC and process chillers, crane controls and process control systems.

Position responsibilities:

• Recommend changes in structure
• Determine needs for training and establish programs
• Conduct performance reviews for maintenance staff and supervises and counsels latter in reviewing their subordinates
• Review and recommends salary action
• Recommend selection of supervision
• Direct procurement of parts, tools and equipment
• Review manpower requirements and initiate changes as necessary
• Coordinate department interaction with other departments
• Participate in negotiations with IBEW
• Create a safe work environment, enforcement and communication of all applicable safety requirements and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations
• Implement the seven ABS stability tools and Phase II tools
• Management of small to large expense and capital projects
• Coordinate electrical resources from all areas to successfully implement projects within and external to electrical utility department

Basic Qualifications:

• Associates degree and eight years or more of industrial experience
• Experienced in 13.8kv/480vac/110vac and DC power distribution
• At least three years of supervisory experience in a production/power distribution environment
• Knowledgeable of OSHA, NFPA and ANSI regulations
• Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
• Project Management experience
