INVENTORY CONTROL COORDINATOR
Makita U.S.A., Inc., distributes tool products and accessories to the US Market from strategically located distribution centers located throughout the USA and is headquartered in La Mirada, CA. The position of Inventory Control Coordinator is in the Buford, GA office. This role is a part of the operations team who is chartered to assist in the following areas: a) Assist in developing a strong effective cycle count process b) Research and resolve inventory issues. Driven by a new leadership team at Makita USA, the team is visionary, focused on growth, and advocates contemporary operations management philosophies. This operations role will assist in developing and deploying new and innovative strategies and become an integral part of strengthening the new operations management team.
The role of Inventory Control Coordinator will be responsible for the DC’s operational inventory control functions of Makita Power Tools. The objective is that these products be delivered on time, to the proper destination, in the quantity ordered, and with the agreed upon quality standards to be consistent with the expectations of the company and our customers. The operations team is to meet customer expectations while managing costs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the Inventory Control Manager.
Create policies and procedures (including SOP’s) for effective, efficient cycle counting activities and inventories for the DC. These policies should include managing and addressing the challenges of industrial channel accounts as well as large retail accounts.
Create policy and SOP’s for addressing all inventory discrepancies at the root cause level, utilizing BPCS and other tools such as the FedEx Café system, etc.
Create policy and re-engineer SOP’s for location management, space utilization and other reporting functions as it relates to inventory management to optimize speed of distribution between the four walls.
Assist as necessary in all physical inventories, working closely with the Inventory Control Manager and Supervisor.
Assist Inventory Control Department in planning, prioritizing and communicating directives to ensure efficiency and accuracy for cycle count activities, variance resolution, and physical inventories.
Assist Factory Service Center (FSC) in maintaining accurate inventory levels and the disposal of obsolete stock.
Assist the Purchasing Department in maintaining purchase receipts.
Have a strong understanding of inventory control functions and processes.
Strong problem solving skills, time management, organizational, and oral and written skills.
Ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines.
A complete understanding of the concept of “Team". Experience working within a fast paced warehouse environment is required. Solid understanding of receiving and shipping processes.
Previous experience coordinating physical inventories.
Proactively accepts additional duties and/or responsibilities as directed by the Inventory Control Manager.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND OR EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
College Degree is required and or 5-10 years of extensive relevant experience. High School diploma is required.
Must have an excellent math aptitude in order to accurately work with figures and record keeping.
Must be multi-tasked and possess analytical skills.
Must have a demonstrated record of team development and leadership.
Must be detail oriented and have good organizational skills.
Minimum experience is 3-5 years inventory control, production control or related experience in a Distribution Center environment.
Experienced with MS Office Suite; Excel is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires individual to sit for intermittent periods of time. May require light lifting, bending, stooping or reaching.
May be subjected to working overtime as required.
