Location: Alva, Florida
Major Company in Southwest Florida has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Bilingual (English/Spanish) Human Resources Assistant.
Position Title: Human Resources Assistant
Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Department: Human Resources
POSITION SUMMARY: Perform Human Resources related duties at the support level and carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, communications and computer support.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Assist in the communication of various Human Resources policies, benefit and wage administration, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations
· Compile and maintain personnel records. Update employee files to document personnel actions for payroll and other uses
· Maintain and distributes current employee information including policies procedures and other communications
· Process enrollment, changes and terminations in all benefit plans
· Assist with safety program and workers’ compensation claims
· Assist the Manger in the processing unemployment claims
· Facilitate, provide and assist in training (including orientation) to the workforce
· Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs
· Assist the Manager in the employment process for entry level and technical job openings from hiring to termination
· Review applications and interview applicants to match experience with specific job related requirements for entry level positions
· Support the Manger to maintain a working relationship with Union officials and supports adherence to terms of labor contract
· Actively involved in posting jobs in newspapers and websites as well as internally
· Periodic support processing of facility payroll for hourly employees
· Support sorting and distribution of US and interoffice mail
· Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Requirements
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
· Bilingual; (English/Spanish) excellent oral and written communication skills (REQUIRED)
· Valid Driver’s license
· Possess a 2 year degree and 2 or more years experience working directly in the Human Resources field
· Possess some knowledge and/or experience in the areas of employment, recruitment, training, benefits, payroll, workers’ compensation, recordkeeping, and data entry
· Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
· Excellent computer experience in MS office programs and knowledge in HRIS ABRA is preferred
· Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
· Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully
· Ability to handle multiple tasks, be proactive, a self starter, enthusiastic and motivated to learn
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
