Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise site operations, including personnel.
  • Active participant in safety training, mentoring and the performance of:
    • Safety Audit Program
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Risk Assessment and Reduction
  • Responsible for the safety performance of assigned routes.
  • Direct responsibility for DOT Hours of Service compliance.
  • Prepare, assure accuracy, and approve weekly payroll information.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the location’s service standards. Accountable for the minimization of service failures and must ensure timely and complete service recovery, when necessary.
  • Responsible for meeting budgeted/approved operations staffing levels. This includes needs anticipation, training, retention and scheduling of operations employees.
  • Active contributor to the operations budget development through accurate statistics collection, route management and creative improvement solutions.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding budgeted productivity by addressing the following:
    • Edit report review and approval
    • Grid process implementation, review, goal setting, and achievement
    • Driver training, coaching, and accountability
  • Actively participate in the Operations/Maintenance process including fleet walks, driver accountability, down time and door traffic reduction.
  • Ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with, Company, Governmental and Customer policies and procedures.
Requirements

 

  • Education and/or Experience
  • –Associate or Bachelors degree or two years supervisory work experience.
  • Drivers License:  A Class B Commercial Drivers License is required.  If a candidate does not have one, you will have up to one year after hire to acquire one.
  • Language Skills- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Written Communication - Able to read and interpret written information.

  

Preferred:  

  • Bilingual in English & Spanish, ability to read, understand, translate and write, a plus.
  • People Skills – Strong people skills including focus on solving conflict, not blaming; maintains confidentiality; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas and willing to try new things.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel are strong desirables). Knowledge of computerized routing programs (Route Smart) is a plus.
  • Teamwork - Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.
  • Visionary Leadership - Provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates.
  • Delegation - Sets expectations and monitors delegated activities; Provides recognition for results.
  • Judgment - Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisions.
  • The Operations Supervisor is required to be physically present or “on-call” during all operating days and hours unless specifically relieved.
  • Holiday work may be required on occasion.
