Description

The Behavior Specialist (BSP) is responsible for developing Behavioral Support Plans for children and adults with developmental disabilities who are living with family or in community based residential settings.  The BSP will assess an individual and develop a complete plan, which outlines support strategies to address specific target behaviors as identified in the assessment process.  The BSP will be responsible for providing training on all aspects of the Behavioral Support Plan to the direct support staff working in a pre-vocational/vocational center.  The BSP will also be responsible for providing on-going consultation and assistance to the support team for the purpose of updating the plan in response to the changing behavioral needs of the person served.  This is a fun, active and hands-on position that will include the provision of direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities at home and in their communities so as to role-model proper interactions and support techniques to direct support staff.

Requirements

The Behavior Specialist must have a Bachelors Degree in a related Human Services field, be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and have experience in the development of Behavioral Support Plans for people with developmental disabilities.  Experience working with children with developmental disabilities and a commitment to serving individuals with challenging behaviors in community settings is essential. 


The Behavior Specialist must have a valid driver’s license issued from their state of residence and an acceptable driving record, as defined by our insurance carrier.  The position requires the employee drive an insured personal vehicle as part of their work (subject to mileage reimbursement).
