Communications Specialist

 

Join a team of Communication Specialists who work directly with hospital staff and medical examiners to screen patients over the phone for the potential for organ, tissue and eye donation.  This is an opportunity to use your medical training, great interpersonal and critical thinking skills in a whole new way.  You will also talk with donor families over the phone providing them with the opportunity for donation and obtaining authorization.

Requirements

We are searching for an experienced professional with a strong work track record, who is team-oriented, flexible and wants to make a difference.  Extensive medical terminology and understanding of human anatomy and disease process required.  Experience in organ and tissue donation and bilingual skills are preferred.

 

 Education:

Bachelors degree in health sciences or equivalent of 4 years as a LPN, Paramedic, Medical Lab Technician, Medical Records Clerk, Medical Secretary, Medical Assistant, Medical Technician or other related field.

 

 

 Job Requirements:

 

Ability to multitask, think critically, operate independently and demonstrate solid interpersonal and telephone skills.

 

An excellent command of the English language is required and the ability speak and communicate clearly in order to convey information to donor families, hospital staff and transplant/procurement personnel in person or by phone.

 

Ability to work 36 hours per week and participate in a rotating schedule that includes evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.  Be available to work additional shifts during times of high call volume or other staffing needs.  Must be able to work at a computer station for extended periods of time with few breaks.
