Description The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the preparation of all out-going items for shipping or storage including maintaining records.
  • Compare identifying information, counts, weights and measures of outgoing shipments to verify information against job ticket.
  • Determine method of shipping.
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
  • Pick inventory items released for shipment from work in progress and inventory.
  • Organize outgoing skids going to common destinations or carriers.
  • Enter items into inventory that are scheduled to go into inventory.
  • Stretch wrap completed skids and affix shipping instructions.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Check quality of pallets.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operate fork lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping to storage or work areas.
  • Properly use lifting and safety devices when transporting and storing stock and finished products; follow all company safety rules and keep work area neat.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have 1 - 2 years previous shipping experience
  • Fork lift training and certification
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong sense of urgency; customer focused
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 25 - 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 70 pounds
