Description
Regional staffing company is currently seeking a seasoned Logistics Analyst. The role of the Logistics Analyst requires professional communication, computer, and presentation skills.
This position reports to the Manager of Logistics and works closely with the entire Logistics team. The Logistics Analyst must have the ability to develop the necessary reports and meet deadlines. To be successful you must be a self starter with the ability to see the big picture while maintaining a focus on the details. A solid quantitatively oriented background is required, and previous experience is a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following:
Assist in data collection and data aggregation for large scale studies of logistics systems performance.
Assist in design and testing of software support for logistics system performance analysis.
Assist in preparing technical reports and executive summaries for logistics projects.
Be able to design, run, modify, and interpret data queries through Microsoft Access.
Be proficient in Microsoft Excel including formulas, functions, and macros
Assist in the creating and distribution of various custom reports (COGNOS experience a plus).

QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this job, an individual must be highly self-motivated and flexible enough to pursue quantitative studies of logistics systems where the scope and complexity are potentially open ended. Sound business judgment and broadly based analytic skills are essential. These attributes must be evident in the level of confidence exhibited in defending results under intense technical review.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a BS degree and/or five years of experience, an MS degree, or equivalent is preferred. Degree disciplines may include any engineering degree, logistics, operations research, statistics, or other quantitatively oriented discipline.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects. Must possess excellent computer skills and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products software i.e.: Word, Outlook, Access and Excel.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively using telephone, fax, e-mail etc. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
