Refurbish Technicians/Electronic Technicians (All gaming platform, board level work)

Technicians Needed for building and rebuilding game system, diagnose board issues. Construct and reconstruct gaming platform from board-up (Playstation3, X-box 360, Playstation2). Great Benefits! Temp to Hire Opportunity!

 

SUMMARY: Process Improvement Refurb Tech is part of a team that supports Refurbishment’s ability to be a world class repair facility by:

 

- creating new repairs for product failures, ensuring that the level of the hardware repair bonepile (units with no current fix) stays at goal
- proving out new and existing repairs and processes using sound methods (e.g. scientific method, design of experiments, six sigma tools, project management tools)
- analyzing data (e.g. from experiments, processes, field performance, extended test performance) to determine most effective actions to take for improvement
- improving current processes based on agreed priorities or data analysis
- maintaining Refurb production equipment (e.g. reflow and software buffing equipment) and implementing calibration/preventive maintenance schedules

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary, depending on business needs of this position.

• Troubleshoot gaming systems (consoles and hand helds) to component level. The root cause analysis ranges in complexity from faulty external parts to PCB issues to faulty surface mount and BGA components and issues with solder joint integrity.
• Use understanding circuit/system performance and reflow process to evaluate repair methods
• Conduct repair experiments to prove/disprove theories.  Quantify information from experiments to support decision making.
• Effectively gather and analyze data relevant to repair processes, failure analysis efforts, and repair experiments to prove out new repair methods
• Present project status updates to Refurb management team
• Ensure that all applicable Refurb processes have the necessary integrity to ensure the Refurb product meets standards
• Document and publicize/train associates on necessary process information
• Maintain equipment (buffing, reflow, repair, QA/test), diagnose equipment malfunctions and make necessary repairs
• Communicate with equipment manufacturers and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment down time

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Strong hardware/electronic troubleshooting skills to board/component level
• Demonstrated logical problem solving/analysis skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of hardware systems (PS2, PS3, XBox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, etc.) is a plus
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including reflow, is a plus
• Strong MS Excel, Word, and Access or SQL proficiency
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally, and in writing
• Able to lift and/or move heavy boxes and objects (up to 50 lbs.), bend, stoop, reach with arms and hands, climb on ladders and drive warehouse equipment (forklifts, etc.)
• Able to manually lift, move, drag and stack wooden pallets weighing up to 60 lbs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Associate’s degree or certificate in Engineering Technology or similar field, or military equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age and present any state required proof of age documents
• Experience as an electronic technician
