Description
South Oakland Anesthesia Associates PC is a privately owned Anesthesia Service. We are looking for an energetic, detail oriented professional to work Full time in our corporate office.
As Staff Accountant your duties will include but not limited to:
- Analyze revenues, and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis. Assume responsibility for accounting classifications of all expenditures, asset, and liabilities.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules; insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
- Prepare monthly general and standard journal entries, income and balance sheet statements, account reconciliations, cost reports and various other accounting reports; provide interpretation of results as appropriate.
- Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and reconcile payments to bank deposits.
- Prepare detailed monthly actual to budget variance reports to support practice management in the review of monthly operating performance.
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of annual tax returns.
- Prepare and submit annual personal property tax and Sales & Use tax returns, as required.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures /methods by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes. Develops accounting policies to comply with generally accepted accounting principles, tax requirements, and management reporting requirements. Develop and monitor of internal controls.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Operate as back-up for bi-weekly/quarterly payroll processing.
- Understand retirement plan including calculation of quarterly/annual contributions.
- Understand benefits plan.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
Requirements
Qualifications
The Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. 5 years of accounting experience; preferably in a physician practice management or healthcare-related environment. Public accounting experience is a plus, but is not required. Excellent computer skills, to include knowledge of accounting software programs: Peachtree, QuickBooks, ADP Pay Expert, Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems. Ability to interact with other individuals at all levels of management. Ability to communicate information effectively to staff and others.

Base Pay & Benefits
Note: Pay is based on experience. Full medical and dental coverage along with retirement plan contributions, and paid holidays are offered to full time employees.
