Description Our client is a subsidary of a Forturn 500 company servicing more than 100 hospitals nationwide. Through revenue cycle management and patient communication solutions, our client has distinguished itself from other healthcare services firms to become a strategic partner for mission-driven hospitals who look for innovative solutions to provide the short term stability and the long term sustainability their patients, physicians, and their communities need.

Our client is looking for a Director of  the National Coding and HIM Center in Frisco, TX. Candidates are responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Continuous evaluation and reengineering of applicable processes and organizational design based on current and new client needs. 
  • Managing client and/or staff and operations at the facility level or remotely. 
  • Maintaining excellent coding productivity and accuracy rates by performing quality audits, providing ongoing education and training to staff, and ensuring current industry coding/HIM practices are in place.
  • Ensuring compliance with CMS, other regulatory agency guidelines, JCAHO, and company compliance guidelines.
  • Preparing and administering applicable budget and ensuring all spending is within budgetary guidelines.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures and leads/manages daily operations while providing superb HIM services to clients. 
  • Pursuing professional growth and development keeping abreast of the latest trends in the HIM field by attending in-services, seminars, workshops, and reading current literature. Shares ongoing education with employees ensuring continued professional certifications are maintained and best practices are deployed.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all stakeholders in respect to HIM Operations.  Collaborates with both client and company stakeholders including Transition Management team.  Participates in meetings with company and Client executives to discuss HIM proposals/performance.
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of HIM Operations including ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and CPT coding principles and rules, DRG classification and reimbursement structures
  • Advanced knowledge of all regulatory and compliance obligations associated with HIM Operations including coding
  • Advanced knowledge of Federal, JCAHO Guidelines, and State regulations regarding Acute Care Hospitals. Computer applications, federal and state laws regarding patient confidentiality, and terminal digit numbering.
  •   Ability to communicate and form working relationships with all client and stakeholders
  •   Ability to manage change while minimizing interruption at an operational and service level
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Advanced writing  and verbal skills
  • Ability to provide advanced customer service
  • Ability to plan and implement process improvements
  • Ability to manage and continuously improve performance metrics
  • Ability to train and coach staff
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • BS in Health Information Administration; MBA preferred
  • 5 – 7 years experience in HIM Operations (Director Level position)//Hospital or HIM Service Provider
  •     Required: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  •     Required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
