Description
SUMMARY
Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant on off shifts or weekend. Experience in Fiber fabrication, longer duration/bulk processes, and chemical background desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 
  • Oversee all aspects of fiber manufacturing on weekend and off shift. 
  • Calculate perform properties as performs are completed, maintain database and adjust fabrication programs to keep properties in correct ranges. 
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. 
  • Identify equipment issues, repair as possible and document changes. 
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. 
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. 
  • Hands on knowledge of database programs 
  • Oversee operator work


Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 3+ yr.s experience
  •  Manufacturing experience with RF induction furnaces, glass manufacturing processes a plus
  • Ability to work independently as a member of an interdisciplinary team 
  • Proficient with JIT, Lean Manufacturing, SPC and 6-Sigma techniques
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, databases, AutoCAD.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder(Permanent Resident)

Experience:

Manufacturing experience with RF induction furnaces, glass manufacturing processes a plus

Working knowledge:
Optical fiber manufacturing, statistics, mechanical and electrical repairs.
 
Physical demands:
Moving gas Cylinders weighing up to 170 lbs.
