Summary:

Responsibilities include the performance of specialized engineering (voice, data, SIP, and circuit design), providing software engineering/translations and support for all customer installations associated with the Digital Switching, IP and Operating Support Systems, in which employees are applying technical knowledge in the gathering, coordination, production, research and problem solving necessary for execution of department objectives/goals. 

 

The individual must have intermediate level knowledge of complex telecommunications switching networks. Intermediate level knowledge of equipment and translations for any of the following digital switching systems is required: Alcatel-Lucent 5ESS, Nortel DMS, Alcatel-Lucent distributed gateway platform (VOIP), Broadsoft Broadworks (VOIP), & Genband G9 (VOIP and TDM).  Uses an understanding of SS7 networks and the ability to troubleshoot and analyze SIP VOIP, q.931, ISUP and TCAP messaging.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Supports complex customer migrations from various switch platforms.  Complete application design to ensure the move will not disrupt the service/features to their clients.

  • Configure IP Assignments to proper Edge Router, Pre-Build interfaces and perform customer internet turnups on PAETEC Edge Routers.

  • Provide intermediate level customer support and troubleshooting of Customer CPE configuration to ensure customer satisfaction at cutover.

  • Initiate internal and external escalation process and follow up as appropriate to ensure timeliness of completion of service orders. 

  • Coordinate resolution of issues with various departments.  Follow up with appropriate departments as required on status and resolution.

  • Identify process gaps and training needs for department. 

  • Manage and troubleshoot exceptions including technical configuration issues with equipment and various network elements that negatively impact intervals and quality of customer installations.

  • Provide 2nd Level support for NOC, Operations and Solutions Engineering on basic trouble issues.  

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Required:  Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications or Electronics or related field.

 

Preferred:  3/5 years of telecommunications experience required.
