Description

My client is seeking an Electrical Designer to work with the engineering team in the development of project documents, cost estimates, instruction packages and supporting documents.  As the Electrical Designer you will be expected to facilitate field investigations within a Mill environment, to verify existing electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic system components, document existing electrical services and control elements and gather information to be used in initial Project Scope Definition. The Electrical Designer is responsible for updating project schematics per construction Red Line and engineering mark ups in addition to attending project review meetings and provide technical input to the project team.

 

Additional duties include:

 

  • Specify Process Instrumentation and Control Devices based on P& IDs and Process Design Basis.
  • Work with discipline engineers to develop and revise layout drawings for Electrical Equipment, Cable Trays, Conduit Routing and Lighting Installations.
  • Work with discipline engineers to develop Panel board and Termination schedules, Power & Drive System Studies, Instrument Location diagrams and Control System Definitions.   
  • Manage and document individual project budget hours on a day to day basis.
  • Perform all on site tasks in a sensible and safety conscious manner adhering to the strict Federal, Local and Site Specific Safety rules and regulations. 
Requirements

 

  • Four year degree in Electrical Technology 
  • 3 + years of Electrical P& C design in a medium to heavy industrial environment.
  • AC/DC, Analog and Digital control systems (PLC / DCS)
  • Power Systems design 480 / 4160 / 12470, 3Ø VAC
  • Motor Circuit design.
  • Electrical Safety Systems design.
  • Experience in Pulp & Paper is a plus.
  • Experience in Automated Manufacturing Technologies.
  • Systems Integration.
  • Industrial Network protocols.
  • HMI design and development.
  • Machine Control design and programming (PLC / DCS).
  • Experience in the specification, evaluation and documentation of Generators, Motors, VFD’s, Switchgear, MCC, Transformers and Process Instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and understand Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Single Line diagrams, Elementary Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Fluid Power Diagrams, Logic Diagrams and Loop Sheets.
  • Proficient in the application of industry design standards.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2000 (or later), Microsoft Word and Excel (generate electrical drawings and project related documentation).
  • Excellent Communication, Documentation & Technical Writing skills.
