Description

We have an immediate opening in our Chicago office for an Asst. Vice President of Development who will play an important role in organizing, conceptualizing, and implementing urban apartment and mixed-use developments.   Position is responsible for initial feasibility studies on land and building purchases, due diligence of acquisitions, oversight of entire project from start to completion, works with outside Consultants (Designers and Architects), obtains site approvals and permits and works closely with various ownership entities and executive management. 

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develops and maintain the overall project budget and schedules
• Manages the design process and works closely with the owner’s representative on the project
• Qualify, contract, and manage all third-party consultants, architects and
contractors
• Prepares a variety of analyses, statements and reports for management, equity partners and lenders
• Leads the zoning and entitlement process

Requirements Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or MS preferred

o     Education and Experience should be a combination of Architecture and Law

o     Budget Accounting Experience required
• 8-10 years of relevant experience with a proven track record  in Multi-Family real estate development with new construction, demolition and renovation projects of urban mid or high-rise projects with specific experience in:
o     Zoning and governmental processing
o     Land development
o     Multi-family Residential and retail design and construction 
o     Team management experience


Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
• Solid understanding of successful project management practices
• Solid technical skills; knowledge of current design and
"green" buildings
• Ability to prioritize work; excellent time management skills 
• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills (Microsoft Project
and Sage Timberline a plus)
